Natural Remedies
A few remedies I use, and I haven't been sick in over 20 years:
I never use chemicals for anything.
Calendula Oil for wrinkles, rash, minor skin irritations. Easy to make by adding dried Calendula flowers to Olive oil or Sunflower oil. Let infuse for 6-8 weeks in a dark glass bottle. I use the olive oil bottle to make it, and then strain with cheesecloth into small fine mist spray bottles.
Bentonite Clay for Nettles, Poison Ivy- I have had both and it worked right away.
Made a thick paste with water and apply. Let dry, rinse off in about an hour if it looks like the rash has subsided.
Tea Tree Oil for cold sores, works best if you apply a small amount when you first start to feel a cold sore starting.
Oil of Oregano at the start of a sore throat. Use 1 or 2 drops under the tongue. If it seems to strong add it to water.
Papaya Enzymes or Ginger tea for indigestion. Walmart has chewable Papaya Enzyme tablets in the vitamin section. For Ginger tea cut a few slices of ginger root and steep in boiling water. Add raw honey if needed. You can store ginger root in the freezer for a long time and always have it on hand.
Diatomaceous Earth (Food grade) for fleas, ants, anything that crawls. Just be careful not to breath in the dust from it. If using on pets keep away from their face. I rubbed in a small amount on my cats neck and back to get rid of fleas. It works. Also on counter tops and window sills where ants were coming in and in the mailbox.

Self Help CPR
Here is an email I just received with valuable information if you are having a Heart Attack.
I hope it helps you, or someone you know.
"What are you to do if you have a heart attack While you are alone. If you ' ve already received this, It means people care about you.
The Johnson City Medical Center staff actually Discovered this and did an in-depth study On it in our ICU. The two individuals that discovered this then did An article on it, had it published and have had it incorporated into ACLS and CPR classes. It is very true and has and does work. It is called cough CPR.
A cardiologist says it ' s the truth If everyone who gets this sends it to 10 people, You can bet that we ' ll save at least one life. It could save your life!
Let ' s say it ' s 6:15 p.m. And you ' re driving home (alone of course), after an usually hard day on the job.
You ' re really tired, upset and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain In your chest that starts to radiate out Into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital Nearest your home. Unfortunately you don ' t know if you ' ll be Able to make it that far. What can you do?
You ' ve been trained in CPR But the guy that taught the course didn ' t tell You what to do if it happened to yourself.
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, this article seemed to be in order. Without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, Has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each Cough, and the cough must be deep And prolonged, as when producing sputum From deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated About every two seconds without let up Until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and Keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this, it could save their lives!

"GREEN" COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS DANGER
I read an old email today that I should have read a long time ago about the health risks involved with CFL bulbs. It seems going green and saving a few bucks on electricity in this case, can jeopardize the health of ourselves and our family.
"While claiming these new CFL bulbs will reduce carbon emissions, Congress passed legislation stating these new light bulbs must completely replace our everyday incandescent light bulbs by 2014, without telling us of the serious dangers to health and environment, that these mandated bulbs pose.
CFLs are loaded with deadly mercury, one of the most toxic elements on Earth. In fact, all CFL bulbs contain - at least - five milligrams of mercury, about 200 times the amount of mercury in a flu vaccine shot. There is enough mercury in each CFL bulb to contaminate 6,000 gallons of clean water. To break one of these CFL bulbs is to risk ruining the health, or ending the lives, of one's entire family, or office staff, with enough released atmospheric mercury to best require the expensive, professional services of a Haz/Mat Removal Team.
All Americans will be well advised to practice a "mercury escape plan" in the case of an accidental breakage of one of these CFL bulbs: Grab your cell phone, babies, dogs, cats, and parakeets (if they aren't already dead), and get well away from your house. Call a Haz/Mat company to completely clean your house before re-entering it; or better yet, relocate your family. Such are the serious dangers of mercury.
And our environment? This is where mercury laden CFL bulbs do their most serious damage to everyone of us - in the environment. The same environment that we are so concerned about dying from global warming. But unknown to us, already there are hundreds of millions of disposed CFL bulbs that have contaminated personal garbage cans, fleets of garbage trucks (spreading their toxicity near and far), and garbage disposal sites, that are doing irreparable damage to our ground water, except when such garbage is burnt; then, mercury is released into the very air we all breathe.
With over 100 million American households, and tens of millions of other lighted facilities, all over our country, and with each of them disposing of even just one CFL bulb a month ... can anyone imagine how much mercury will poison our disposal dumps, our ground water, our air, our lungs, and our entire bodies. If one did not know better, mercury is the perfect bio/weapon for genocidal madmen: The poison is in dental amalgams, vaccines, light bulbs, and who knows what else.
Are our lawmakers simply without a shred of common sense, or are they driven by a sinister power, intent on not only destroying our environment, but our very lives. In any case, something inhuman drove our CFL horror, and is driving the "Green Revolution," and its off-shoots of global warming, and the entire climate change circus of death. J. Speer-Williams

Wow! This makes you wonder!
Here is an article from www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_fluorescent_lamps
"Broken and discarded lamps Main article: Fluorescent lamp recycling Health and environmental concerns about mercury have prompted many jurisdictions to require spent lamps to be properly disposed or recycled rather than being included in the general waste stream sent to landfills. It is unlawful to dispose of fluorescent bulbs as universal waste in the states of California, Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.[52] In the European Union, CFLs are one of many products subject to the WEEE recycling scheme. The retail price includes an amount to pay for recycling, and manufacturers and importers have an obligation to collect and recycle CFLs. Safe disposal requires storing the bulbs unbroken until they can be processed. In the US, The Home Depot is the first retailer to make CFL recycling options widely available.[53]
Special handling instructions for breakage are currently not printed on the packaging of household CFL bulbs in many countries. The amount of mercury released by one bulb can temporarily exceed U.S. federal guidelines for chronic exposure.[54][55] Chronic however, implies that the exposure continues constantly over a long period of time and the Maine DEP study noted that it remains unclear what the health risks are from short-term exposure to low levels of elemental mercury. The Maine DEP study also confirmed that, despite following EPA best-practice cleanup guidelines on broken CFLs, researchers were unable to remove mercury from carpet, and agitation of the carpet—such as by young children playing—created spikes as high as 25,000 ng/m3 in air close to the carpet, even weeks after the initial breakage. Conventional tubular fluorescent lamps have been in commercial and domestic use since the 1930s with little public concern about their handling; these and other domestic products such as thermometers contain far more mercury than modern CFLs.[56]
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends that, in the absence of local guidelines, fluorescent bulbs be double-bagged in plastic before disposal.[57] The Maine DEP study of 2008 compared clean-up methods, and warned that the EPA recommendation of plastic bags was the worst choice, as vapours well above safe levels continued to leach from the bags. The Maine DEP now recommends a sealed glass jar as the best repository for a broken bulb.
The first step of processing CFLs involves crushing the bulbs in a machine that uses negative pressure ventilation and a mercury-absorbing filter or cold trap to contain mercury vapor. Many municipalities are purchasing such machines. The crushed glass and metal is stored in drums, ready for shipping to recycling factories.
According to the Northwest Compact Fluorescent Lamp Recycling Project, because household users in the U.S. Northwest have the option of disposing of these products in the same way they dispose of other solid waste, in Oregon "a large majority of household CFLs are going to municipal solid waste". They also note the EPA's estimates for the percentage of fluorescent lamps' total mercury released when they are disposed of in the following ways: municipal waste landfill 3.2%, recycling 3%, municipal waste incineration 17.55% and hazardous waste disposal 0.2%.[58]
[edit] Mercury poisoning of Chinese factory workers In the past decade, hundreds of Chinese factory workers who manufacture CFLs for export to first world countries were being poisoned and hospitalized because of mercury exposure. Examples include workers at the Nanhai Feiyang lighting factory in Foshan city where 68 out of 72 were so badly poisoned that they required hospitalization. At another CFL factory in Jinzhou, 121 out of 123 employees were found to have excessive mercury levels with one employee's mercury level 150 times the accepted standard.[59"
Another article that I read advised to put a drop cloth on the floor when changing one of these 'green light bulbs' just in case we drop it.
If we happen to break one, we are advised to wear protective clothing, safety goggles, and gloves when cleaning up. Then it seems the best way to contain the broken glass and powder is to seal it in a glass jar as opposed to a plastic bag. We should check with our local recycling guidelines to learn how dispose of them.
It makes one wonder if we are really saving, if we are exposing our family to the danger of Mercury poisoning!
Update on incandescent light bulbs. This year, 2012 the production of 100 watt incandescent light bulbs has come to a complete halt.
In 2013 there will be no more 75 watt incandescent bulbs produced, no 60 watt in 2014, and so on each year.
Ace Hardware in Omaha, NE states they will accept, and properly dispose of burnt out or broken CFL light bulbs. Check with your city to find out where you can safely dispose of them if you choose to use them. Please do not throw them in the trash! They will end up in our landfills and contaminate our soil and water.
Stock up on the safe light bulbs that are left!

Butter vs. Margarine
This will make you think twice when 'saving money' on margarine!
Some things are worth paying a little extra for.
Money saving tip: buy Butter on sale and store the extra in the freezer.
This is from another email I received from a friend:
"Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback, so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.

I have always used Butter, just because it tastes soooo much better, and I know it is natural, not man made. You decide!

SKIN CARE-NAIL FUNGUS
Is it Possible to Get Artificial Nail Fungus From Nail Shops?
Artificial nails have come to stay. It is rare to find a woman who doesn’t wear it these days. This naturally follows that they are used in covering their natural toes and to make them more beautiful. However, women have been known to use artificial nails to cover up nail fungus infection hence resulting in a coined word “artificial nail fungus”. Unfortunately, this doesn’t cure nor solve the problem. Instead, it worsens it. Let me explain.
Nail fungus grows in a favorable environment in which there is a lot of moisture and it is dark. Now when you apply artificial nails to the already infected toe nails, it creates an environment that is both dark and has a lot of moisture. Since these fungi grow only in areas that are airless and on feet that are both damp and warm, the artificial nail thus inhibits the easy flow of air around the toenail.
Fungal nail infections are more common among the toe nails than among the finger nails. But please note that any finger nail that isn’t natural but attached to the real finger nail is a huge contributor to the spread of the fungal infection.
It is understandable that when the nails look yellowed as a result of the infection, the natural inclination is to want to put it out of sight and hide because of the stares you get on the fingers or toenails. But know that when you hide the nails under artificial nails, you are creating a more enabling environment that will foster the faster growth and spread of the fungus. So, while it is covered, no one else of course sees the nails while it keeps getting destroyed and the condition worsens. If this gets to the extreme, you may not even be able to hide it any longer as the nail becomes so bad that it is virtually impossible to even apply the artificial nails. This is the reason it is better for you to nip the “monster” in the bud.
The spread of the fungus nail infection is even more common among the women than men because of the flourishing beauty industry. It is common fact that women these days visit nail shops where professional nail experts help apply the artificial nails they want. Now, it very easy for women to get their pedicures and manicures done for them at these shops and because of this, nail spas are very rampant and well patronized by women and even some men. However, these same shops which are a source of satisfaction to women can also be a source of sadness as they beautiful nails they go to sculpt their nails, can become infected by the nail fungus infection. This is possible because certain women who also visit these shops may have the nail fungus growing in their fingernails.

A natural cure for nail fungus is pure Tea Tree Oil. Apply to nails 2-3 times a day.
